SAM® SOUND – 3d Signals

The Machine Whisperer

SAM® SOUND monitors plant machinery in real time during operation. To do so, machine data are logged by vibration and acceleration sensors, performance data are recorded by inductive contacts on the machines, all data are processed by a cloud-computing system and made available to plant operators as required. As a result, anomalies, which can lead to plant downtime and consequently a standstill in production, can be detected at an early stage. The same is true for machinery downtime and the associated causes. The SAM SOUND real-time data analysis is handled by cloud-computing systems where the data are also made available to suit user needs.

Plug-and-play system

C10 SAM SOUND operates based on non-invasive sensors. This allows for easy, quick installation so that all types of machines of any age can be connected without requiring a dedicated interface.

Insights in real time

The data measured by the sensors mounted on the machines are uploaded to the cloud without delay where they are analyzed by algorithms and artificial intelligence (AI) and visualized in near-real time.

Added transparency

SAM SOUND gives you a real-time overview of your entire machinery, regardless of the machine make and across all of your sites. You can instantly pinpoint which machine is running, which is idling and which is currently switched off. Consequently, you are enabled to better plan your production activities and prevent machinery bottlenecks.

SAM® SOUND

Real-time acoustic monitoring in action

SAM SOUND was developed in collaboration with 3d Signals, an Israeli start-up company. From the beginning, SAMSON's production facilities were monitored with the tool. At the introductory stage, we already managed to improve our productivity in the pilot department by 30 % thanks to SAM SOUND. This result was mainly owed to the real-time indication of the machine status, which enables the operating staff to immediately remedy any problems that have been detected and proactively prevent downtime.
At SAMSON, staff can view machinery utilization data on a dashboard in the production workshop. This improved transparency led to a higher level of machine capacity usage and a more efficient, sustainable use of the machinery in the plant.
Thanks to SAM SOUND, the absolute energy consumption of the machinery used in SAMSON's production operations in Frankfurt was significantly reduced, which is a favorable achievement in times of soaring energy prices.
The continuous monitoring of the installed machines serves as the basis for assessing how the available machinery capacity is utilized. This helps identify bottlenecks and analyze them. As a result, operators have the numbers and data they need to calculate how much to invest in new machines.
